11 of My Favorite Videos to Teach Gratitude

11 of My Favorite Videos to Teach Gratitude

Gratitude is such an important lesson to teach students (and adults) of all ages. It is scientifically proven that people who regularly express gratitude are happier people.

One of my favorite quotes are:

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
― Oprah Winfrey

To me, this quote means that we only have a certain amount of energy that we can give. We can choose to give that energy to things that help us feel joy, or feed into emotions that suck the life from us. The choice is ours.

So, with that being said, here are 11 of my FAVORITE videos I love to help teach about gratitude.

1. Kid President’s 25 Reasons to be Thankful

I LOVE this Kid President video. It is the perfect, silly video to help students think of some creative things they could be grateful for.

2. The Thankful Song by Juicebox Kids

This song is SO upbeat and SO fun for students Pre-K – 3rd grade. It gives students a bunch of synonyms for the word grateful, and will be sure to make you want to dance.

3. What Teens Are Thankful For

This is a great video for 5th-8th graders where teenagers tell people in their lives that they are grateful for them.

4. Self-Kindness Go Noodle Meditation

This is one of my FAVORITE meditations for K-4th graders. It fosters an awesome discussion about self-gratitude. We have to be kind to ourselves, and appreciate ourselves, as well as others we care about.

5. RocketKids Practicing Gratitude

A silly video that shows as a student looks around to find things that they are grateful for including “cat’s and birds that are friends, a teacher, and a semi-butt head sister.”
